Auburn tight end John Samuel Shenker pens NFL free agent deal with Las Vegas Raiders

Another Auburn man makes his way into the NFL.

Auburn tight end John Samuel Shenker has landed a job with the Las Vegas Raiders. on a free agent signing.

Shenker, who played in all 5 seasons he was at Auburn, holds Auburn’s all-time records for catches by a tight end (68), single-season tight end receptions (33) as well as the single-season tight end receiving yardage (413). Even with all those catches most fans will remember his crushing blocks for running backs and wide receivers over the years.

A 4-year starter with the Tigers, Shenker was a strong beacon of stability through the storms of coaching changes. All while maintaining the SEC academic honor roll in every year of his career. His work ethic and dedication to the Auburn program led to him being named captain of the team in his senior year.

Though Shenker was not figured to be a name called on draft days, his hard work and tireless efforts towards being whatever the coaches asked will go a long way in the NFL. His six-foot-four 250-pound frame should work well as both a blocker and a catcher in the pros. Hopefully he will find a roster spot and represent Auburn for a long and prosperous NFL career.

Shenker is a true Auburn man and we here at Auburn Daily are proud of his success and wish him the best.
