College football analyst predicts Auburn's sneakiest transfer portal move

What was Auburn's best addition in the transfer portal?

In the first season under Hugh Freeze, the Auburn Tigers couldn't get all that much going through the air.

It could have been Payton Thore struggling, or the receivers not being all that good, or perhaps a mixture of both things, but nevertheless, the Tigers couldn't push the ball downfield through the air.

Coach Freeze has tried to fix this issue as he is bringing in some talented receivers in the 2024 class, a talented quarterback and a transfer portal receiver. Shane Shoemaker of Clutch Points believes the transfer addition of Robert Lewis will be the "sneakiest move" Auburn made in the portal.

Shoemaker had this to say about Lewis, "In three seasons of play at Georgia State, he totaled 102 receptions for 1,323 yards at 13 yards per reception for 14 touchdowns. He had his best season last year with the Panthers, catching 70 passes for 877 yards and seven touchdowns. His standout performance last season was against Charlotte, where his skills were put on full display. That day, he hauled in six passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns. With Auburn needing some help in their receiver room — their passing game was beyond abysmal last season — Lewis could end up being the sneakiest transfer portal pickup for the Tigers in 2024."

Auburn's receiver room will be one of the most talented in the SEC next season, but young as many of the players will be freshmen. A guy like Lewis can be the veteran leader of this receiver room and has a legitimate shot to lead the Tigers in receiving.
