The Auburn Tigers are losing one of their most experienced linebackers to the transfer portal.

The Tigers are going to be reloading at the linebacker position this offseason and have gone to the transfer portal to add some depth. However, they're losing one of their more experienced players at the same time.

Cam Riley, who played for the Tigers for four seasons from 2020-2023, has entered the transfer portal, per 247Sports. Riley is Auburn's largest linebacker in program history, listed at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds. He was in position to start for the Tigers at the beginning of fall camp this past season.

“He’s competing for that starting spot,” Auburn linebackers coach Aldridge said. “He’s splitting those one reps a lot. Cam is probably – if we were to move one of those guys down into like a jack linebacker or a sam linebacker, Cam would be the first guy up. And he’s working at that, too. I could see Cam, whether he’s starting or not, he probably has a good chance to play the most snaps of anybody in the room just because he’s doing multiple things, right?"

Over the course of his four years with the Tigers, Riley racked up 120 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks. His best season came in 2022, where he collected 65 tackles, 3.5 for loss. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Auburn landed Duke transfer Dorian Maui earlier this offseason, who should be able to replace Riley's production.
