The Auburn Tigers just got some big news.

Auburn has struggled on the offensive side of the ball for several years now. Despite bringing in a new coaching staff and hitting the transfer portal extremely hard, the Tigers could not find the step forward they were looking for.

Thankfully, one of the bright spots of the offense is coming back. Running back Jarquez Hunter has announced he will be returning for his senior season in 2024, per Auburn football's social media.

March 19th, 2019. That's when I first stepped foot on the Plains," Hunter said. "And it was at that moment that I realized that I wanted to be an Auburn Tiger. There's something about this place, this team, this staff, that's truly special. I can't thank Auburn enough for what it has done for me.

So with that being said... let's run it back, Auburn family! War Damn Eagle!"

Hunter has rushed for 2,170 yards in three seasons on the Plains. The Tigers featured Tank Bigsby as their starting tailback during Hunter's first two years with Auburn. He still managed to eclipse over 600 yards in his first two seasons while averaging 6.4 yards per carry or better.

When given a chance to be the starter in 2023, Hunter barely missed a thousand-yard season, going for 909 yards (5.7 YPC) and seven rushing touchdowns.

The Tigers have a deep running back room again in 2024, especially now that Hunter is returning. He will lead a stable that includes Damari Alston (320 yards, 5.0 YPC), Brian Battie (227 yards, 4.5 YPC) and highly-touted sophomore Jeremiah Cobb (172 yards, 5.2 YPC).

The running game will likely be what Auburn leans on offensively this season despite the insane receiver talent that's coming in through Auburn's 2024 recruiting class.
