Game Log: No. 17 Baylor Cruises Past Texas State 42-7
The Baylor Bears are back at the friendly confines of McLane Stadium after a gut-wrenching double-overtime loss at BYU in their first road test of the season last week, hosting the Texas State Bobcats Saturday.
The Bears struggled with the hostile atmosphere in Provo last weekend, committing 14 penalties (including 4 false starts) for 118 yards., eventually dropping the game, 26-20, in double overtime.
The Bobcats, out of the Sun Belt Conference, are coming off an uplifting 41-12 win over FIU after dropping their Week 1 matchup with Nevada, 38-14. Teams from the Sun Belt won three games against power five conference opponents last week, including Appalachian State taking down then No.6 Texas A&M in College Station.
Baylor quarterback Blake Shapen is looking for a bounce-back performance after going 18-28 for just 137 yards and a touchdown in last week's game. He may also be down two key offensive weapons, as wide receiver Monaray Baldwin and running back Taye McWilliams remain game-time decisions.
