Star Defensive End Trey Wilson Signs With Baylor
Dave Aranda and Baylor football's defensive line gets an elite athlete in Trey Wilson, a three-star product who signed the dotted line on early signing day. Wilson is a 6'3", 240-pound product from Lakeview Centennial in Garland.
Wilson chose the Bears over USC, Michigan Utah and Washington, as well as offers from a plethora of other FBS programs, including Arizona State, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida State, Illinois, Miami, Kansas State, Kansas, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Purdue, Stanford, TCU, Texas Tech, and more.
Though listed as a true defensive lineman, Wilson projects as a defensive end at the college level based on his length and speed. While all-district awards for 2022 are still pending, he was a Texas District 9-6A first-team selection during his junior season.
He was also the district's defensive newcomer of the year in his sophomore campaign.
Wilson joins Ridge Point (MO) defensive lineman DK Kalu, La Grange (TX) defensive lineman Jaren Woods, Ellison (TX) defensive lineman Brendan Bett and transfer nose tackle Jerrell Boykins of Hutchinson C.C. as one of the new big nasties up front.
With 21 hard commitments entering early signing day, Baylor's 2023 recruiting class is ranked No. 17 in the Sports Illustrated recruiting class rankings. Wilson is one of 11 defensive players committed in the 2023 class.
The Bears can be elated with landing Wilson after losing the commitments of defensive lineman Christian Brathwaite and linebacker Taurean York this season. While Wilson may not be a plug-and-play talent, depth issues on the front line could cause his name to be called in 2023.
