Baylor Golf's Keefer Named to All-Big 12 Team

Junior golfer first representative for Bears since 2018

The Baylor University men's golf team accomplished a feat they haven’t met since 2018 when junior golfer Johnny Keefer was named to the All-Big 12 Men's Golf Team on Friday, June 10.

He was also named to the Ping All-American Third Team on Tuesday, June 7.

"Congratulations to @johnkeefer2 on becoming a ✌️ time @PingTour @GolfCoachesAssn All-American!" Baylor Men's Golf tweeted on Tuesday. "He is the fifth golfer in program history to win All-America honors in multiple seasons!"

The official BU Men's Golf Team Twitter page also congratulated the tennis star for being named to the All-Big 12 Team.

According to BaylorBears.com, this is Baylor's first representative on the All-Big 12 Team since Garrett May accomplished the recognition in 2018. Keefer is also just the 12th different tennis player in BU history to receive All-Big 12 honors.

Keefer had a stroke average of 71.34 over 29 stroke-play rounds in 2022, and his single-season average is ranked seventh-best in program history, according to the team site.

In addition, Keefer tied a school record at the Cabo Collegiate with a final round of 63 en route to his best finish of the season (tied for third). According to BaylorBears.com, he finishes the season ranked No. 13 by Golfstat, No. 23 by Golfweek and No. 78 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

The Baylor golfer will be competing in the upcoming Sunnehanna Amateur from June 15-18 at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
