* After helping the Boston College field hockey team to two wins, including a 1-0 victory over No. 8 Virginia, junior Fusine Govaert was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week. Govaert totaled five points on the weekend with two goals and one assist, while also scoring both game-winning goals over the weekend. She scored the lone goal to give BC a 1-0 win over the Cavaliers on a penalty corner with six seconds left in the first half. She only took two shots during the game, capitalizing on her one shot on goal. Then on Sunday against Quinnipiac, the Rye, New York native scored just 2:32 into the game on another penalty corner. Then later assisted Nell Webber’s goal, who tipped home a Govaert shot. (via BCEagles.com press release)

*Hannah Bilka was named the Hockey East Player of the Week after two dominant performances over the past week. The freshman scored four goals against Holy Cross on Thursday, and added a power play goal and an assist in Saturday's win over Syracuse. Bilka finished the week with a +5 and eight shots on goal.

*Wyatt Ray has found a new home, and it is with Tommy Sweeney, Matt Milano and the Buffalo Bills. Ray was signed to the practice squad yesterday.

* The ACC had their media day yesterday for Men's Basketball and coach Jim Christian, Nik Popovic and Derryck Thornton all spoke. You can check out their remarks below:

On this date in Boston College history:

On October 9, 2009 the Boston College Eagkes travelled to #25 NC State where they faced off against former head coach Tom O'Brien and future NFL star Russell Wilson. Frank Spaziani's club struggled mightily allowing Wilson to throw for 320 yards along with three touchdowns. Quarterback Chase Rettig was ineffective throwing 11/32 174 yards two TD's and three picks.

Quote of the Day:

Frank Spaziani on the loss: “(Wilson) is an All-ACC quarterback who makes plays. He understands the system he is asked to run, and when you have a quarterback who understands his system you have a good asset. They’re well-coached. They have good players that are certainly a handful. We got beat by a good football team.”
