Will he play?

A key to the Boston College defense still may play this weekend according to head coach Steve Addazio today at his weekly press conference. The big question was whether linebacker Isaiah McDuffie would be ready to go after a pretty serious leg/knee injury suffered during the spring game.

Based on Addazio's answers it sounds like there is a possibility that McDuffie could play on Saturday. However, in my opinion if he hasn't taken any reps, and hasn't practiced all that much, those odds don't seem in favor of him seeing significant time. If he doesn't play look for redshirt freshman Joe Sparacio to get the nod, he saw time with the ones during scrimmages at SLB, and is listed on the depth chart as a co-starter with McDuffie.

McDuffie came into his own in 2018, finishing the season with 85 tackles, along with 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Watching his game film on WePlayed, and it was clear that he was becoming a leader and most importantly a playmaker on defense. But it looks like we may have to wait until Saturday to see if he is ready to start Week 1 against the Hokies.
