The Eagles enter their fifth season under head coach Greg Brown as the No. 11-ranked team in the country.

For the first time this year, the Boston College men’s hockey team will lace up their skates for a regular-season contest.

The No. 11 Eagles are set to face the Alaska Nanooks (0-2) at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass., at 7 p.m. ET to open their 2026-27 campaign after two exhibition games last weekend in Michigan, in which BC fell to No. 3 Michigan State, 5-2, and defeated the United States National Team Development Program, 10-1.

Alaska dropped its first two games of the season last weekend to No. 14 Boston University by final scores of 2-1 (OT) and 4-0.

Last season did not end the way BC imagined it would, as the Eagles failed to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since BC head coach Greg Brown’s first year at the helm (2022-23), and there is a whole new cast of players, including some key returners, looking to right the ship.

This game marks the second all-time meeting between the Eagles and the Nanooks.

Here is all the information for the game, including live updates and analysis that will be updated before and during the contest.

Second period

  • The Eagles successfully kill off Matias Vanhanen's hooking penalty that he picked up 5:29 into the frame, during which senior defenseman Nolan Joyce was injured and had to be helped off the ice by his teammates. BC has now killed off three of its four penalty kills in the game.

First period

  • The first period ends with BC on the power play, but Oscar Hemming was booked after the whistle, leading to 4-on-4 action to begin the second.
  • GOAL, Alaska: The Nanooks knot up the score on a rebound shot in front of the net from Sam Elliott. The Eagles' defensive containment in front of the crease partially collapsed, which allowed Elliott to push the puck in. Boston College 1, Alaska 1 [2:03].
  • The Eagles are now 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. The last penalty occurred just over the 10-minute mark of the frame, when freshman Quinn Beauchesne took an unneccessary cross-checking penalty.
  • BC kills off a hooking penalty that freshman Casey Mutryn picked up. Sophomore goalie Louka Cloutier has made some impressive stops so far, and it's safe to say he's gained a lot more confidence in himself. He seems to have better awareness of the puck.
  • The Eagles looked good on the early power play, both the top and second PP line included. They peppered the net with close to four shots in under two minutes, the last of which found the back of the net off Stiga's stick.
  • GOAL, BC: Teddy Stiga taps in a one-timer in the waning seconds of the Eagles' first power-play opportunity of the year. Will Vote had the assist on the 2-on-1 chance. 1-0 Boston College [18:02].

Injury News

If an injury occurs during the game, this section will be updated.

  • Senior defenseman Nolan Joyce had to be helped off the ice after suffering some sort of leg injury. He then went back to the locker room. The injury occurred roughly six minutes into the second frame.
