CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — The Boston College men’s hockey program starts its two-game home series against Northeastern Friday night in Conte Forum, which marks the start of conference play for the Eagles.

BC (1-3-1), which entered the season as the No. 11 team in the country and is now unranked, comes into the pair of league games after dropping a non-conference road series to No. 3 Denver last weekend, in which it fell in the first contest 5-2 before tying the second one 2-2 and capturing a shootout victory — which technically does not count towards anything other than morale.

The Huskies (2-1-0, 0-1-0 Hockey East), who are the first team outside of the latest USCHO Division I men’s hockey poll, last played a game that counted on Oct. 17, when they defeated No. 20 UMass 4-1 after losing 4-1 to the Minutemen a day prior.

The Eagles lead the all-time series against Northeastern 171-63-17, but during head coach Greg Brown’s tenure, they have gone 4-7-2 against the Huskies.

Below is a live thread of the game with scoring and analysis, including injury updates, lineups, and more.

1st period

  • 11:10 - After BC failed to capitalize on its second power play of the frame, the Huskies got their first one with Casey Mutryn's tripping. The Eagles did a terrific job of keeping the puck out of the zone for the first half of the penalty kill and managed to keep NU from scoring.
  • 13:31 - The Eagles obtain their second power play of the game with Jordan Tourigny's cross-check on Will Vote in the corner of the NU defensive zone. The Huskies aren't doing themselves any favors so far.
  • GOAL, Boston College - The Eagles went on the power play at the 17:48 mark and scored in just 12 seconds to extend their lead. This one saw Ryan Conmy shove in the puck from the crease. After a review by the officials, the goal stood. BC 2, Northeastern 0 [17:36].
  • GOAL, Boston College - On the first shift of the game, Matias Vanhanen grabbed a rebound in front of the net, took the puck to his backhand and slotted it in past NU goalie Lawton Zacher to establish the Eagles' early lead. BC 1, Northeastern 0 [19:34].

Injury Updates

Freshmen Olivers Murnieks (forward) and Quinn Beauchesne (defenseman) remain out of the Eagles' lineup with injuries. Sophomore forward Will Moore is still out as well with a long-term injury.
