KenPom Predicts BYU Basketball vs LMU in WCC Quarterfinals

BYU and LMU face off for a chance to advance to the WCC semifinals

On Friday night, BYU took down Portland 82-71 to advance to the quarterfinals of the WCC tournament. BYU will take on LMU in the quarterfinals on Saturday night. Industry leader in college basketball analytics Ken Pomeroy cemented his BYU-LMU prediction. KenPom gives BYU a 62% chance to win with an expected final score of 75-72.

ESPN BPI, the predictive tool used by ESPN, is aligned with KenPom on BYU's chances against LMU. BPI gives BYU a 61% chance to beat LMU.

As of this article, the spread for this game is BYU -4.5 with an over/under of 147.5. Meaning the implied projected score according to the oddsmakers is 76-71 in favor of BYU.

2023 WCC Men's Tournament

BYU entered the men's tournament as the fifth seed. The Cougars had a first-round bye before taking down Portland in the second round. With the win over Portland, BYU will take on LMU in the quarterfinals on Saturday night. That game will be broadcast on ESPN2. The winner of BYU-LMU will advance to the semifinals to take on top-seed Saint Mary's. 

The second men's game on Friday night featured Pacific and San Francisco. San Francisco took care of business to advance to the quarterfinals where it will face Santa Clara on Saturday night. The winner of Santa Clara-San Francisco will advance to the semifinals to take on no. 2 seed Gonzaga.
