Will not be returning to Gonzaga next season. https://t.co/C1VVD4UVHN
Petrusev declared for the NBA Draft in April but kept his options open when he declined to sign with an agent.
If the report is true, this could dramatically change the outlook of the upcoming season for Gonzaga. Petrusev averaged over 17 points per game last season and beat out Yoeli Childs for the West Coast Conference player of the year. According to Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology, Lunardi projected the Zags as the overall number one seed in college basketball. In the same projections, BYU was left on the outside looking in.
For BYU, this is an especially interesting development as the Cougars are building a roster to compete with the Zags. BYU is well positioned in the front court after adding Matt Haarms as a graduate transfer. Gavin Baxter and Wyatt Lowell are also intriguing pieces for BYU in the front court.
