A few months ago, BYU picked up one of its most important commitments of the 2024 recruiting class when Georgia native Therrian (Tre) Alexander III committed to BYU. Alexander, a 6'2 DB, picked BYU over competing Power Five offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and NC State. He also held offers from the likes of UAB, Western Kentucky, and Georgia Southern among others.

Over the last several months, BYU's staff has worked diligently to keep Alexander in the fold while competing Big 12 peers like West Virginia and Houston have tried to swoop in late and flip his commitment. Tre is still committed to BYU and on Thursday, he announced the dates of his BYU official visit. He will be in Provo from Dec 7th to December 10th.

Alexander is a long, lean defensive back listed at 6-2.5 and 165 pounds. Cornerbacks with his size and speed are hard to find on the recruiting trail which is why he was coveted by various Power Five programs.

Alexander is one of BYU's highest-rated commits in the 2024 class and someone that BYU can build around on the defensive side. BYU cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford deserves a lot of credit for building a relationship with Alexander that was enough to over the geographical hurdles in Alexander's recruitment. Coach Kelly Poppinga was also a major player in his recruitment.

Alexander is part of an exciting 2024 class on the defensive side of the football that includes players like Jonathan Kabeya, Devoux Tuataga, Adney Reid, Siosefa Brown, Thomas Prassas, and Dallin Johnson. BYU also picked up a commitment from Texas defensive back Matthias Leach earlier this week. Leach committed to BYU after Jay Hill extended him a scholarship. BYU is quietly putting together a very solid defensive classs.
