Cal added a significant player to its women’s basketball team as Ioanna Krimili, a three-time first-team all-West Coast Conference selection while at San Francisco, has signed with the Golden Bears as a graduate transfer.

Krimili started every game she played at USF, totaling 99 games over four seasons with career averages of 18.0 points per game, 2.8 three-pointers made per game on 39.4% three-point shooting. She surpassed the 30-point mark 10 times in her career, including four times this past season. She also, as well as 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game.

She averaged 16.6 points in 2022-23 while making 41.3% of her field-goal attempts and 39.4% of her three-point shots. Krimili averaged 19.4 points as a junior in 2021-22 and 18.9 points as a sophomore in 2020-21.

She ranks fourth alltime in the WCC in career three-pointers made with 276.

"We are thrilled to have a player the caliber of Ioanna join our circle." Cal head coach Charmin Smith said in a statement provided by the school. "She is a prolific scorer with good size and the ability to create for herself and others. She has a quick release and stretches the floor with her deep range. Most importantly, she believes in what we're building here and wants to be a part of the resurgence of this program."

"Coach Smith is a passionate competitor that I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to learn from," Krimili said in a statement. "She sees me for exactly who I am and her belief in me is unparalleled. I know she will continue to empower me as a Cal Bear to grow as not only a basketball player but as an individual as well. I'm excited about her vision for this program and am thankful to come alongside her in making that vision come true."

A native of Heroklion, Greece, Krimili graduated from Aristotelio College. In high school, she was selected for the All-Tournament Team in the Greek U18 league in May 2019 and was named the 2018-19 Most Improved Player in the Greek senior league, A1. While playing for her U18 Greek national team, Krimili averaged 14.9 PPG, 2.8 RPG and 3.5 APG.

Krimili will be counted on to provide the scoring that was lost when Jayda Curry transferred to Louisville recently.
