Cal's ACC Women's Basketball Opponents for Next Two Seasons Announced
On the face of it, Cal's women's basketball schedule in its first two years in the Atlantic Coast Conference looks easier than what it is facing in the Pac-12 this season.
The Bears' ACC opponents and sites for the next two seasons were announced Thursday, although the dates have yet to be set.
As always Cal will still play Stanford twice a season, home and away, during the 18-game ACC schedule the next two seasons, but Cal will face the other 16 ACC teams just once each season.
Stanford, which is ranked No. 4 this week, is currently the highest ranked team Cal is scheduled to face in ACC play next season. However, the Bears will face the highest-ranked ACC team, Virginia Tech, in a road game next season.
The other currently ranked ACC teams on Cal's 2024-25 ACC schedule include No. 12 North Carolina State, which will play the Bears in Berkeley next season, as well as No. 17 Notre Dame (road), No. 19 Syracuse (home) and No. 22 Louisville (road).
Cal this season has already played six games against Pac-12 teams that are currently ranked in the top 13, and will face a seventh such team in its final regular-season game Saturday at 11th-ranked Oregon State.
Cal road games next season will involve cross-country travel to Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, and somewhat shorter trips to SMU and Notre Dame. However, those road games, such as Virginia and Virginia Tech, will be combined as one weekend trip, slightly mitigating the travel.
