Georgia Guard Jeremiah Wilkinson Commits to Cal Basketball
Cal and Mark Madsen got their first commitment for the class of 2024 on Wednesday when Jeremiah Wilkinson, a three-star point guard from Powder Spring, Ga., announced that he has committed to the Golden Bears. He made his announcement on social media.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Wilkinson picked Cal over offers from several SEC schools closer to his home, including Mississippi State, Mississippi and Florida, and he also received offers from Butler, Saint Louis and Tulsa, among others. In fact, Wilkinson had made an early commitment to Mississippi State, but decided to re-open is recruitment and switched to Cal.
Though he is seen is a point guard, he has also played the shooting guard position, so he is more of a combo guard. The 247 Sports website ranks Wilkinson as the nation's 27th-best combo guard recruit in the nation.
Wilkinson, who attends McEachern High School, is a product of Th Skill Factory, an Atlanta-based sports training, skill and development organization.
Wilkinson made his official visit to the Cal campus this past weekend, and was ready to pull the trigger.
As a sophomore shooting guard, Wilkinson averaged 16.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

You might wonder whether Cal's uncertain conference affiliation for next year affects its recruiting. In at least this case, it apparently was no hindrance.
