Aaron Rodgers: 'It Won't Be Long' Before He Announces Decision

In this story:
It seems that everything is set up for Aaron Rodgers to play his 2023 season with the New York Jets. Now all that needs to be determined is whether the former Cal star will actually play in the 2023 season.
The decision on whether Rodgers will retire has to be soon, and in a video with Brandon Marshall released Saturday night following a flag-football event, Rodgers confirmed his annoucement will come soon.
"Stay tuned," Rodgers said when asked when the decision in coming.
When Marshall followed up with, "How long do we have to wait?" Rodgers responded with this:
"Well, I think it won't be long. There's a time limit for all this."
The Jets and Packers want a decision by the start of free agency. The legal tampering period begins Monday, and teams much meet cap requirements by Wednesday.
When asked how last week's meeting with Jets officials, including owner Woody Johnson, went, Rodgers offered little, saying, "It's always interesing meeting important people in the sport."
Rodgers spent most of his interview with Marshall talking about his spiritual interests and whether he's misunderstood. The portion that pertains to the Jets visit and his timetable for making a decision starts about 3:25 into the video below:
.
The Jets have restructured a number contracts of players on their roster, presumably to make cap space to obtain Rodgers and his sizable contract.
Packers president Mark Murphy said recently it's still possible Rodgers could return to the Packers, but everything he said in recent days implied that Rodgers will be traded (presumably to the Jets). He said Jordan Love is ready to become a starter.
It seems Rodgers would return to the Packers only if a deal with the Jets -- or any other team -- would fall apart for some reason.
The general feeling is that Rodgers will not retire and will play at least one more NFL season. He will turn 40 years old in December.
