Rahshawn Clark, a receiver and cornerback from Seattle who is rated as a four-star recruit by one prominent recruiting service, committed to Cal for the class of 2024.

Clark made his announcement Wednesday on social media.

He is transferring from Federal Way High School to Garfield High School for his senior year and will be a teammate of quarterback EJ Caminong, who committed to Cal on June 27.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Clark visited Berkeley on June 25 and chose Cal over offers from Oregon, Washington, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Mississippi State, Louisville, Florida Atlantic and Michigan State, among others.

Recruiting services categorize Clark as an “athlete” rather than a wide receiver or cornerback, which are the positions he plays at Garfield. The 247 Sports website rates him a four-star recruit and ranks him as the nation’s 27th-best athlete prospect. Rivals, ESPN and On3 rate Clark as a three-star recruit.

It’s unclear what position he will play at Cal. He seems to prefer offense, but Cal has a history of developing defensive backs into NFL-caliber players under Justin Wilcox. The fact that Cal secondary coaches Tre Watson and Terrence Brown were the principal recruiters for Clark suggests he will play defense for the Bears.

Here is what 247 Sports national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman said about Clark:

Clark is one of the top two-way prospects in the state regardless of class. He has Power 5 offers for both cornerback and for receiver. He's rated as an athlete and while we think he's got more upside on defense, his heart is on offense. Whichever side of the ball he ends up playing, he will impact the game. He's also a good returner, a player who can use his speed and vision to break off long returns. As a receiver, he's a natural pass catcher and probably projects best inside as a slot but could split out wide too depending on the offense. Defensively, he has some of the best ball skills of any defender in the class and plays with a nice, physical edge to him, not afraid to initiate contact at all.
