MRI Confirms Aaron Rodgers' Season Is Over

A Tuesday MRI confirm the New York Jets' worst fears -- that he has a torn left Achillies tendon, which offcially ends his season.
The question now is whether the 39-year-old Rodgers will ever play another NFL game.
An MRI confirmed today that Aaron Rodgers officially tore his Achilles on the fourth play of his Jets’ career.

Rodgers’ season now, officially, is over. There already are questions about whether his Hall-of-Fame career is, too.
Aaron Rodgers’ torn Achilles might be the most devastating injury to a team and fan base in NFL history. There never has been a player who received more off-season hype, who raised another team’s expectations more, who had his season end 4 plays in without ever completing a pass.

As Adam Schefter of ESPN notes this might be the most devastating injury in the NFL history. It occurred on the Jets' fourth offensive play of the season, after he was sacked by the Bills' Leonard Floyd.
This will have an effect on the Jets trade with the Packers:
With Aaron Rodgers done for the season, the Jets now will owe the Packers a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Rodgers had to play 65 percent of the snaps this season for the Packers to get the Jets’ 2024 first-round pick. He played four plays.
That is not the big issue, though. A torn Achilles tendon can take up to a year to heal, and it might take longer for someone of Rodgers' age. He turns 40 in December, and you wonder whether he will want to put in all the time and rehabilitation required to get back to NFL-caliber condition. Even if he does all that, he might not be as effective as he was before the injury.
Rodgers had contemplated retirement each of the past two offseasons, and we can assume he is seriously considering retirement now.
The response in a Milwaukee bar to the Rodgers injury was interesting:
The people hear roared when Rodgers got sacked…and cheered again when they realized he was hurt.

The free booze condition is Rodgers must start the game. Doesn’t say anything about him needing to finish it https://t.co/e0D3XyBXDR pic.twitter.com/FolOHTK9Nd
