Clemson Pro Day Recap

The NFL Combine is a fun event, full of excitement and freakish performances, but Pro Day is the preferred method to meet potential players for most NFL coaches, GMs, and scouts. Pro Day offers the teams to be much more hands-on with players in a more controlled environment.

Representatives from all 32 NFL teams were on hand Tuesday as Clemson hosted its Pro Day. In total, 14 Tigers were in attendance: Davis Allen, Bryan Bresee, Jesiah Carlton, K.J. Henry, Hunter Johnson, Keith Maguire, Jordan McFadden, Myles Murphy, Joseph Ngata, B.T. Potter, Luke Price, Jabriel Robinson, Elijah Rodgers, Trenton Simpson.

The story of the day was Myles Murphy. Murphy, who did not work out at the NFL Combine, once again was unable to participate. The projected top-10 pick will instead host a private workout on April 4th.

As for the players who did work out, Trenton Simpson perhaps had the biggest day. Simpson stole the show at the Combine, running a 4.43 40-yard dash at 235 pounds. Cole Thompson of FanNation had Simpson putting up some pretty incredible numbers on Wednesday as well. Per Thompson, Simpson ran the short shuttle in 4.22 seconds, and the 3-cone in 6.89 seconds, and hit 40.5" on his vertical.

During their coverage of the event, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe described Simspon as a guy who has "a chance to be the first off-ball linebacker selected in the Draft."

Other notes:

  • DT Bryan Bresee hit 28 reps at 225 lbs on the bench.
  • OT Jordan McFadden worked out at center.
  • K B.T. Potter nailed a 55-yard field goal.
  • We will update you with the official times and reps when they are released by Clemson's strength and conditioning staff.
