The odds for Colorado to win a national championship is a burning topic inside sportsbooks across America. Coach Prime and the Buffs are now the fourth-highest betted on to win the College Football Playoff this year, according to BetMGM.

This comes with under 100 days before the start of the season and the odds moving from +20,000 to +12500, according to BetMGM's John Ewing. Bettors are throwing down huge sums of cash for a change at a huge payday like they did last year. It's another side to the "Prime Effect" with the masses believing in what Deion Sanders is building in Colorado.

This will be the first year for the College Football Playoff to include the 12-team format. Colorado moves back to the Big 12 after spending 14 years of mostly struggles in the Pac-12. Without Texas or Oklahoma, the schedule has winnable games down the stretch. However, the Buffs will not have any back-to-back games at home throughout the entire conference schedule. It will be about trying to balance the string of games without looking too far ahead.

Sanders and Colorado are coming off of a bittersweet 2023 campaign that resulted in a 4-8 record with six straight losses to end the season. What gets lost in the shuffle is the Buffs 1-8 record in Pac-12 conference play last year. Add that to another complete roster turnover and there will be a lot of work to do for the Playoffs to be possible.

Colorado opens the season against FCS powerhouse North Dakota State on Thursday, Aug, 29 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. They'll move on from there with back-to-back road games against rivals Colorado State and Nebraska to round out the non-conference portion of the schedule.
