So far, the Duke basketball program has seen six departures from last year’s roster between the transfer portal and the NBA Draft. Head coach Jon Scheyer and the rest of the Blue Devil staff are set to welcome the No.1 recruiting class, but that may not be the only additions to next year’s roster.

On Monday afternoon, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that Syracuse transfer forward Maliq Brown will be in Durham to visit with the Blue Devils beginning on Wednesday, with the visit lasting through Friday.

The 6-foot-8 sophomore spent his first two seasons with the Orange. Receiving over 20 minutes per game in both seasons, Brown played a combination of games in the starting lineup and off the bench.

Across 32 outings this past season, the 20-year-old averaged 9.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting just shy of 70 percent from the field. He also racked up 2.2 steals per game en route to being named to the All-ACC Defensive Team.

Brown’s most impressive showing as a Syracuse sophomore came against the Blue Devils in early January, although that contest ended with Duke defeating the Orange, 86-66, in Cameron Indoor Stadium. He scored a career-high 26 points, shooting 11-for-16 from the field while also grabbing seven boards.

He has also shown to be an excellent offensive rebounder, with 121 of his 363 career rebounds coming on the offensive glass.

It’s currently unknown what kind of role Maliq Brown could have if he were to join the Duke basketball roster next season. But with two years of ACC experience under his belt, he could be a valuable addition to the team.
