Duke added its second power forward to the 2020 recruiting class in a week, when four-star Jaemyn Brakefield announced on Twitter that he was committed to the Blue Devils.

The announcement came one day after Duke made a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-8, 210-pounder out of Huntington (WV) Prep.

Brakefield is rated the No. 38 prospect in the class and the No. 6 power forward by 247 Sports, just ahead of Henry Coleman, who committed to Duke last Friday. Rivals had Brakefield slightly higher, at No. 36. Coleman's highlights are below:

Brakefield averaged 15.9 ppg and 6.1 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Duke’s late entry blew up Brakefield’s recruiting. He had named a list of 10 leaders in late August that included Auburn, Florida State, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Oregon, UCLA and West Virginia. He’d already taken official visits to Auburn and Louisville. He was scheduled to take an official visit to Michigan this weekend and had one scheduled to Ole Miss for later in the month.

Brakefield’s highlights (courtesy of Rivals and Courtside) show a likely stretch four candidate. He has a high-arcing left-handed shot from three that will likely flatten out and improve at the college level. He also is a strong driver to the hoop with a surprising array of “old man at the Y moves” to supplement his natural athletic finishing ability.

Brakefield joins Coleman, five-star small forward Jalen Johnson, five star point guard Jeremy Roach and five-star shooting guard DJ Steward in a recruiting class that is now ranked No. 1 in the nation.
