Burnt shirt report: Game five

The Blue Devils played six true freshmen in the wild home loss to Pitt.
For four of them, the game was their fifth of the season, putting them over the redshirt limit. After this year, they will have four seasons remaining to play three.

Jalon Calhoun: Led the team with five catches and scored a two-point conversion (photo at top). Played: 5, Cannot redshirt.
Eli Pancol: Is seeing less time with Jake Bobo’s return from injury. Didn’t get targeted for second straight week. Played: 5, Cannot redshirt.
Jacob Monk: Started at tackle for the fifth week, and he didn’t draw any penalties for the fourth straight game. Played: 5, Cannot redshirt.
Jalen Alexander: The defensive back had three tackles and half a tackle for loss. Played: 5, Cannot redshirt.

Jordan Waters: Had one rush for one yard. Played: 3, Remaining: 1
Sayyid Stevens: The freshman linebacker/end made his college debut, according to the official participation report. Played: 1, Remaining: 3.
At redshirt limit, did not play against Pitt.
John Gelotte: Got into the first four games at tight end without accumulating any stats. Sat out against Pitt. Wasn’t clear if it was injury-related or if Duke is going to shut him down to preserve the redshirt. Played 4, Remaining 0

Darrell Harding Jr.: Bobo has cut into his playing time. Had his second DNP of the year. Played: 3, Games remaining in redshirt: 1
Jaylen Coleman: Coach Cutcliffe said he was an option now that Brittain Brown is out, but got his third straight DNP. Played: 2, Remaining: 2
RJ Oben: Hasn’t played since early in the year. Played 1, Remaining 3
Elijah Wroten: Only time has been against A&T. Played: 1, Remaining: 3.
Isaiah Kemp: Only time has been against Alabama. Played: 1, Remaining: 3
Mason Russell: Didn’t play for second straight week. Played: 2, Remaining: 2

The following true freshmen did not play and still have a full four-game redshirt intact:
