Duke coach springs surprise on Middle Tennessee

Duke went into halftime with a 31-3 lead at Middle Tennessee State on Saturday.

Quentin Harris was nearly perfect, passing 20 of 22 for 202 yards and three touchdowns for Duke, while Duke's defense held the Blue Raiders to 112 yards in the first half.

One of the turning points of the game came early in the first quarter. After Duke scored to take a 7-3 lead, the Blue Devils successfully executed an onside kick, which they turned into a second touchdown.

In his halftime interview with Stadium, coach David Cutcliffe said he came up with the idea to go onside with the second kickoff of the game last Sunday, when he was in the office early, watching film alone.

"I'm a little crazy," he said.
