Three Duke players met with the media on Tuesday to discuss the opening game loss and this week’s home opener.

First up with safety Dylan Singleton, who admitted the defense tired as the game went on.

“There was fatigue out there but that’s no excuse.”

As for what the defense needs to improve on: “Tackle better”

Singleton on what the defense did well: “We competed hard. We didn’t back down. We flew around to the ball.”

Next up was quarterback Quentin Harris

On what the offense did right: “We moved the ball well, communicated well, played pretty fast.”

On what the offense needs to improve: “Convert more. Play fast. Lean on the run game and mix in some passes as well.”

On the triple option: “It was something different for us, but we embrace that difference.”

Deon Jackson finished out the session.

On the running game last week: “We ran between the tackles pretty well.”

On multiple running backs playing at once: “at times throughout the game, one of us would line up in the backfield and one in the slot. You could see the confusion on the defense’s face.”

On the triple option: “You might see it later on this year . Might not.”
