What happened to Duke's championships? Week three

We've been tracking the 10 ACC or bowl titles Duke has entered a season defending over its program's history, by using the boxing/wrestling/UFC rule of "beat the champ, win the title.

It's worth noting, however, that, using this rule, Duke won another title last week. By beating NC A&T, the Blue Devils took the Aggies' 2019 Celebration Bowl title and will attempt to defend that Saturday at Middle Tennessee State.

In the meantime, the championships Duke actually won at the time they were initially awarded were all successfully defended by their current titleholders last week.

2017 Quick Lane: Clemson defended the title, beating Texas A&M, 24-10. The Tigers will travel to Syracuse to defend this week.

2018 Independence: Alabama beat New Mexico State, 62-10. The Tide travels to South Carolina to defend.

Everything else ( 1953, 1954, 1955, 1960, 1961 and 1962 ACC titles, 1954 Cotton Bowl, 1956 Orange Bowl, 1960 Cotton Bowl and 2015 Pinstripe Bowl titles): Ohio State beat Cincinnati 42-0. The Buckeyes head to Indiana to defend this week.
