Although Gary Trent Jr. has had his share of struggles this season, including recently missing three straight games with a foot injury, the 24-year-old Duke basketball product is showing signs of heating up for the Toronto Raptors.

On Sunday night, in the Raptors' 142-113 home win over the Detroit Pistons, Trent scored a season-high 18 points. In his 26 minutes off the bench, he grabbed one rebound, dished out three assists, made one steal, and blocked one shot. He shot 6-for-12 from the field, 2-for-7 from deep, and 4-for-4 at the line.

One of Trent's former Duke basketball teammates, fellow 2017-18 one-and-done Marvin Bagley III, tallied six points, three assists, and two rebounds in his 15 minutes off the bench for the Pistons.

Two nights earlier, in a 108-105 home loss to the Boston Celtics, Trent shot 3-for-5 from the 3-point line. And between the three outings leading up to his three-game absence, he was 8-for-17 from downtown.

His season 3-point percentage now sits at a respectable 37.0.

Despite no longer being a full-time starter, he's averaged 11.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 27.4 minutes per game through his 10 appearances.

Gary Trent Jr. and the Raptors (6-7) return to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET when they visit the Orlando Magic (8-5), including NBA Blue Devil sensation Paolo Banchero (Duke basketball one-and-done Wendell Carter Jr. remains out of commission for the Magic with a hand injury).
