Former Duke basketball one-and-done Cam Reddish is heading to the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency. According to a tweet from The Athletic's Shams Charania on Friday night — the first day of this summer's NBA free agency frenzy — the 23-year-old has agreed to a two-year deal with the franchise.

Reddish, who went No. 10 overall to the Atlanta Hawks at the 2019 NBA Draft, will be the first Blue Devil to play for the Lakers since Quinn Cook's two-year stay in Los Angeles, which included a title in 2020.

The Lakers will mark Reddish's fourth stop in the league following stints with the Hawks, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Last season, the 6-foot-8, 220-pound wing saw action in 40 games: 20 with the Knicks before playing 20 games for the Trail Blazers following a trade in February.

He averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 24.8 minutes per outing in his third year as a pro. But he shot only 31.3 percent beyond the arc, an area he likely must improve to carve out an integral role for the Lakers.

Although Cam Reddish's top-shelf length and smooth arsenal have long made folks salivate, he has yet to break out into a full-fledged star since entering the Duke basketball program five years ago as a five-star McDonald's All-American alongside Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, and Tre Jones.

Perhaps being a teammate to a veteran facilitator and mentor in the Lakers' 38-year-old LeBron James will help Reddish finally realize his potential.
