Duke basketball signee leads all Nike Hoop Summit scorers

In this story:
Future Duke basketball talent Mackenzie Mgbako was easy to miss in the McDonald's All-American Game a week and a half ago, going scoreless with zero field goal attempts and grabbing only two rebounds across his 15 minutes on the floor.

His latest performance, though, was a different story.
Mgbako, the highest-ranked member of Duke's incoming recruiting class at No. 7 overall on the 247Sports 2023 Composite, was the leading scorer in Saturday night's talent-rich Nike Hoop Summit showcase, pitting Team USA against Team World at the Moda Center in Portland.
The 6-foot-8, 215-pound five-star small forward, whose dad is Nigerian, played 31 minutes for Team World and finished with 22 points and a team-high eight rebounds, albeit in a 90-84 loss. He shot 6-for-14 from the field, 2-for-5 from downtown, and 8-for-10 from the charity stripe.
And Mackenzie Mgbako's pro-like shaking and shooting beyond the arc was on display:

Two more 2023 Duke basketball signees, five-star combo guard Jared McCain and five-star power forward Sean Stewart, who were also McDonald's All-Americans, played in the contest but were on the Team USA roster.
McCain totaled 10 points, two rebounds, and one assist in 22 minutes off the bench. Surprisingly, the McDonald's 3-point shootout winner did not have an attempt from deep; he went 5-for-9 from the field and 0-for-2 from the foul line.
As for Stewart, although he drew a starting nod for the loaded Team USA squad, he saw only 10 minutes of action, tallying only two points and two rebounds while shooting 1-for-4 from the field.
The other two members of next season's five-deep Duke basketball collection of rookies, neither of whom were in the McDonald's All-American Game or at the Nike Hoop Summit, are five-star point guard Caleb Foster and five-star power forward TJ Power.
