Center John Bol Decommits from Florida Gators

In this story:
Just 20 days following his pledge to the Florida Gators, top-30 center John Bol backed off his commitment to the University on Friday night. His agent announced the move via Twitter.
The development comes in accordance with NIL aspects of Bol’s recruitment that arose in the weeks post-commitment, according to Swamp247’s Jacob Rudner. Sources confirmed to Rudner that Bol’s decision to reopen his recruitment was a mutual parting of ways between the two parties.
Despite recently transferring to The Rock School In Gainesville, a move seemingly induced by his decision to join the Gators program following his senior season at the prep level, Bol now departs from Florida’s 2024 class.
The 7-foot-1, 190-pound center prospect was a major win on the recruiting trail for Todd Golden when he shared his intentions to suit up in orange and blue threads at the next level on June 10. It gave the head coach his first big-time recruiting battle to hang his hat on as he looks to build the Florida program with elite-tier pieces like the former Sunrise Christian (Kansas) talent moving forward.
Bol was expected to provide the unit with a high-motor and lengthy rim protector who can crash the boards, run the floor and produce in an efficient fashion offensively.
Orlando Prep shooting guard Isaiah Brown becomes the sole commit for Golden and Co. at this stage, as a result.
Florida continues to pursue several high-caliber 2024 frontcourt prospects — not to mention the potential search for a true point guard.
Most notably, UF is firmly involved in the recruitment of the No. 4 player in the country and top-ranked center Flory Bidunga, who hails from Kokomo, Ind. He would supply the Gators with a game-changing frontcourt piece with the ability to operate at the four or five at the collegiate level.
Bol’s new teammate at The Rock School, wing Ryan Jones Jr., also appears as a priority target for the coaching staff at this time.
Both are viewed as legitimate options to fill holes in the UF class as the deadline for the cycle and the 2023-24 basketball season grows near.
