Sunrise Christian (Wichita, Kan.) standout center John Bol has set a decision date for the next step of his career for Saturday at noon EST.

He’ll choose from eight suitors he compiled in May, including the Florida Gators alongside Michigan, Missouri, Texas, UConn, USC, Wake Forest and the Overtime Elite League.

Garnering considerable interest since he burst onto the prep and travel ball stage, the true 7-footer is a perfect physical mold of what the current coaching staff looks to supply the frontcourt with moving forward. Possessing unparalleled length to present significant strength as a defensive rim protector and force on the glass — with developmental upside offensively — Bol showcased potential to be a difference-maker for his future program immediately upon arrival on campus.

Florida has vied to be the pick since offering Bol in late October.

The program played host to the talented center prospect unofficially in April, getting rare face-to-face time with the Kansas occupant in an attempt to sell him on donning orange and blue threads in the future.

It was enough to stay in contention when he released his top eight on May 12. But, will it be enough to separate from the pack as the final team standing?

The Gators have proved to be in a good spot for several members of the 2024 class, most notably down low.

Bol and the No. 4 ranked player in the nation Flory Bidunga have expressed considerable interest in Todd Golden’s program. Both bigs visited Gainesville this year, firmly placing Florida in contention to acquire their services.

With the first of the two dominos set to fall Saturday, UF will await anxiously as it hopes to secure the pledge of at least one towering center to operate through in the future.

In Bol’s case, Florida has been battling the likes of Michigan and Missouri in the closing stages of the process, proving to be an uphill battle as the Gators are the only school in that mix not to receive an official visit.

It’s expected the Tigers, given their proximity to him in the midwest and Dennis Gates’ relentless approach on the trail, are currently the front runners to hear their name called by Bol.

The Gators currently hold one commitment in the 2024 cycle in the form of shooting guard Isaiah Brown. They look to add pieces alongside Brown in the coming month.
