ESPN announced matchups for the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge for men's and women's basketball teams in each conference on Wednesday, revealing the Atlantic Coast Conference opponents Florida's hoops squads will meet near the end of November.

Florida men's basketball will take on Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7:15 p.m. ET. The Gators' women's squad will face Georgia Tech on the same day, Nov. 29, at 5 p.m. ET, in Atlanta, Ga.

The event stretches from Tuesday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Nov. 30. Men's teams will participate in the first two days and women's teams will play across the second two days of the challenge.

Full broadcast information will be announced at a later date, although the challenge's games will air across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network.

The commissioners of both conferences commented on the upcoming challenge when it was first announced in Nov. 2022:

“The future ACC/SEC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Challenges will be outstanding events for our student-athletes, member institutions and fans,” said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. “The SEC, led by Greg Sankey, and our partners at ESPN have been terrific, and there’s great excitement for the first annual ACC/SEC Challenge next season. As part of this announcement, we’d like to acknowledge the Big Ten for its partnership on the ACC/B1G Challenge that spanned more than 20 years.”
“We are excited women’s and men’s basketball student-athletes will have the opportunity to compete with their colleagues from the ACC as we initiate a new Basketball Challenge experience,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “I appreciate the collaboration of Jim Phillips and the ACC members, along with our broadcast partner ESPN, to make possible the SEC/ACC Basketball Challenge which will provide our fans with exciting basketball early in the 2023-24 season. I also thank the Big 12 for the many great challenge games we experienced together in past years.”

Florida's men's hoops hold an all-time 7-5 record vs. Wake Forest, dating back to the first matchup between the programs in 1936. The teams last met on Dec. 20, 2014, in a 63-50 Florida win in the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Fla.

Florida women's basketball is 0-1 all-time against Georgia Tech, losing its only matchup by a score of 82-72 on Dec. 5, 1986, at a neutral site in Birmingham, Ala.

Wake Forest is the third ACC team to join Florida men's basketball's 2023-24 schedule. The Gators will face Virginia in the Hall of Fame series in Charlotte, N.C. on Friday, Nov. 10, and will host its annual rivalry game with Florida State on a date that is to be determined.

UF's men's team will make a third trip to North Carolina, in December, for the Jumpman Invitational, in which Florida will face Michigan on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
