Florida falls to No. 10 in the Week 2 Coaches Poll

The Florida Gators may have won their first game of the 2019 season, but considering the win was far from impressive and rather sloppy instead, it didn't do them favors in terms of rankings.

The weekly Coaches Poll, put together by USA Today, has the Gators ranked 10th heading into Week 2 of the 2019 college football season. That's two spots lower than their No. 8 ranking entering the season.

Florida remains the fourth-highest ranked SEC team, behind No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia, and No. 6 Louisiana State. Texas A&M (No. 11) and Auburn (No. 13) also represent the SEC in the top 25.

Notre Dame and Texas jumped ahead of Florida at the #8 and #9 spots, respectively. Notre Dame had a slow start against the unranked Louisville Cardinals in Monday night's game but pulled away in the second half winning by a score of 35-17.

Texas, on the other hand, dominated Louisiana Tech on Saturday, holding the Bulldogs scoreless through the third quarter and seeing quarterback Sam Ehlinger throw for four touchdowns. The Longhorns eventually sat their starters and the game ended in a 45-14 blowout.

Florida has a chance to assert their dominance over the University of Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks this Saturday in their home-opening game, which is set to kickoff at 7:30 P.M. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.
