Former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson, wide receiver Justin Shorter, offensive linemen Richard Gouraige and O'Cyrus Torrence, edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr. — who was dismissed from the team last October, defensive lineman Gervon Dexter, linebacker Ventrell Miller, and safeties Trey Dean III and Rashad Torrence II were among the 319 prospects officially invited to the 2023 NFL Combine on Tuesday.
While the Gators underwhelmed en route to a second consecutive 6-7 campaign in 2022, the upcoming Combine will mark the third time since 2014 that Florida has had nine players invited, a feat last accomplished in 2021 and before that 2015. UF sent ten prospects to the Combine prior to the 2013 NFL Draft, a number that the program hasn't repeated since.
Of Florida's ten 2023 NFL Draft entrants, only linebacker Amari Burney did not receive an invitation to the annual evaluation circuit for pro coaches and front office staff. Burney was promoted from the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl to the East-West Shrine Bowl after a breakthrough 2022 season, recording two tackles alongside Shorter, Cox and Dean in Las Vegas. Nev.
Gouraige and O'Cyrus Torrence participated in last weekend's Reese's Senior Bowl, too. Gouraige was the third-highest-graded player in the game, per Pro Football Focus.
Miller, a six-year Gator, was invited to but missed the Senior Bowl due to a procedure for a foot injury he played through during his final season at UF.
Given their status as underclassmen, Richardson, Dexter and Rashad Torrence were ineligible to play in prospect all-star games and have spent their offseason time training for the Combine. Viewed as one of the top quarterback prospects in the class, Richardson is widely considered a first-round projection, likely a top-ten pick.
The 2023 NFL Combine will take place between Feb. 28 to March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
