Florida redshirt freshman quarterback Max Brown intends to transfer to Charlotte, he announced on Monday evening.

Brown announced his transfer portal departure from Florida on Nov. 29, four days following the first start of his collegiate football career, in UF's 2023 season finale against Florida State.

A native of Tulsa, Okla., Brown signed with Florida as a member of its 2022 recruiting class, committing to the program fewer than two months after Billy Napier's hiring as the Gators head coach in late 2021.

Over six appearances and two seasons with the Gators, Brown completed 19-of-28 passes for 192 yards with an interception. He rushed for 86 yards over 10 rushing attempts with sacks removed from the equation, according to Pro Football Focus.

Brown also joined Florida's baseball team ahead of its 2023 season as an outfielder.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Brown will have three years of collegiate eligibility to utilize at Charlotte.

In addition to Brown, 14 other members of Florida's 2023 roster have elected to transfer: Defensive back Jadarrius Perkins, offensive tackle Jordan Herman, tight end Jonathan Odom, kicker Adam Mihalek, defensive back Kamari Wilson, defensive lineman Will Norman, wide receiver Caleb Douglas, wide receiver Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman, defensive lineman Keenan Landry, tight end Andrew Savaiinaea, defensive lineman Chris McClellan, offensive lineman Jalen Farmer, edge rusher Princely Umanmielen and running back Trevor Etienne.

Brown is the first player of the group to have committed to a new school.

Florida hosted Charlotte in Week 4 of the 2023 season, although Brown did not appear in the game. The Gators beat the 49ers, 22-7.
