Florida isn't done recruiting secondary talent from the spring portal period following Michigan safety R.J. Moten's transfer commitment to the Gators. UF extended an offer to Rhode Island defensive back transfer and rising fifth-year redshirt junior Antonio Carter II on Monday evening.

Carter, a native of Florida and product of Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge from the 2019 recruiting class, officially entered the transfer portal on April 16.
In two seasons as a starter for the Rams, a stretch in which he appeared in 21 games, Carter tallied 105 total tackles, two sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, one interception, 17 defended passes and three forced fumbles.
Carter earned 1,015 snaps at outside cornerback and 274 snaps as a box safety over those campaigns, making up the vast majority of his defensive reps. It is currently unclear which position Florida is targeting Carter to occupy in the Gators' defense, although the coaching staff is certain to appreciate his versatility.
Carter has visited Wisconsin and Ole Miss since entering the transfer portal. He intends to check out Notre Dame and Kentucky in the coming days, according to Blake Alderman of 247Sports. The same report suggests Carter has yet to schedule a visit with the Gators.
Programs such as Texas A&M, Louisville, Washington, Iowa, Indiana, Oregon State and West Virginia have also offered Carter since he entered the portal.
Florida has four scholarship openings on its 2023 roster entering the summer. Head coach Billy Napier said on May 3 that UF will continue to pursue transfer prospects "that we think can make our team better" in the coming weeks.
The Gators also offered transfer portal prospect and former Louisiana defensive back Trenayvian Amos on May 1.
