GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Following one season with the Florida Gators, offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua's time with the program has come to an end.

The rising fifth-year senior guard intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, All Gators can confirm. Mazzccua's imminent transfer portal entry was first reported by 247Sports.

Florida anticipated Mazzccua's departure from the program this offseason and was not blindsided by the report, All Gators has learned.

Mazzccua started 11 of Florida's 12 games this year at right guard during the 2023 season. He was absent for Florida's 22-7 win over Charlotte after serving a suspension for his role in a fight after the Tennessee game the week prior.

Mazzccua participated in Florida's Senior Day ceremony before the program's 2023 season finale against Florida State. In his lone season as a Gator, Mazzccua graded out with a 67.4 overall mark, according to Pro Football Focus.

Before he arrived in Gainesville, Mazzccua spent his first three years of college at Baylor, where he saw his most playing time in the 2022 season. He started 10 games in 11 appearances and graded out as the second-best guard in the Big 12 that year, according to PFF (74.9).

Mazzccua became a hot commodity in the transfer portal following the 2022 season and eventually committed to Florida over Auburn and Nebraska on Jan. 10, 2023. However, his time in Gainesville appeared to nearly have ended before it even had time to begin.

On March 23, Mazzccua announced his intentions to re-enter the transfer portal via social media but deleted his post the following morning. Instead, he remained with the program and had a spring training camp-ending shoulder surgery that limited him for the beginning of fall camp.

While healthy, he made an early impact on his new teammates and coaches and even drew comparisons to former Gator guard O'Cyrus Torrence in the practice setting.

"He got some freakin’ dog in him," offensive line coach Rob Sale said in March.

With Mazzccua's departure and barring a transfer, Florida will likely rely on returning starter Richie Leonard IV and rising sophomore Knijeah Harris to occupy the starting positions heading into the upcoming spring camp.

Mazzccua will be the 18th scholarship member of Florida's 2023 roster to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Find the full list here
