Gators dismiss defensive back John Huggins from program, per report

The Florida Gators have dismissed sophomore defensive back John Huggins from the team, per a report from Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel.
Huggins has been the center of controversy amid an accusation of assault on a female tutor last October. The victim claims Huggins grabbed her by her throat on campus, but head coach Dan Mullen said earlier in the week that Huggins had been internally disciplined.
Huggins had been away from the team during fall camp in regards to a "family issue", but no further details have emerged as to what the issue was or why he has been dismissed.
The sophomore defensive back had an impressive spring and was expected to play significantly in 2019, specifically serving as the primary backup at the STAR nickel cornerback position.
True freshmen Chester Kimbrough and Jaydon Hill should be expected to fill in as depth at STAR, as well as starting MONEY linebacker Amari Burney.
Stay tuned to GatorMaven for further details.
