Florida State Loses Star Wide Receiver During Third Quarter Against Duke Blue Devils

The Seminoles are down a playmaker as they continue to work towards overcoming a double-digit deficit.

The Florida State Seminoles have had to battle all night in Doak Campbell Stadium against a stout Duke team. The Blue Devils got off to a double-digit lead in the first half before the Seminoles came storming back to cut the deficit to three points at the conclusion of the second quarter.

With that being said, FSU's offense might have to find a way to finish the game without the services of one of its best playmakers. Redshirt junior wide receiver Johnny Wilson went down late in the third frame after making a catch for 11 yards.

Wilson was slung down hard on the play and appeared to slam his head into the turf. He tried to stand up after taking the hit but looked woozy, stumbling as trainers ran out to assist him. Wilson was eventually escorted to the sidelines and into the medical tent.

After being evaluated for a couple of minutes, Wilson headed back to the locker room with trainers flanking him. His night might be over after suffering a potential concussion or lower-body injury. The exact extent of the injury remains unknown at this time.

This is the second time in two weeks that Wilson has been knocked out of a game. He was forced to the locker room in the win over Virginia Tech after being injured on a similar play. Prior to exiting the game against the Blue Devils, Wilson caught five passes for 58 yards.

Despite the loss of Wilson, the Seminoles find themselves with the lead during the final quarter of the game. Florida State is in front 24-20 following a rushing touchdown from quarterback Jordan Travis.
