There have been all types of questions since Florida State kicked off preseason camp about the depth chart. NoleGameday made our predictions for each position group prior to the fall but FSU rules prevent us from reporting on the two-deep, injuries, and other team specific details in exchange for allowing us to observe practices.

At last, we can finally finally discuss the Seminoles' official two-deep with the beginning of the first game week of the year. Florida State released its opening depth chart of the 2023 season on Monday in a release with the team's games notes for the upcoming top-10 matchup against LSU.

While many of the starting spots on the roster were relatively locked down entering the preseason, there were a couple of interesting position battles that we followed during camp that now have been answered.

After a strong push from the underclassmen during camp, redshirt Tate Rodemaker is the only other quarterback listed on the two-deep outside of starter Jordan Travis. Caziah Holmes and Rodney Hill are co-backups to Trey Benson at one of the running back spots while CJ Campbell is behind Lawrance Toafili at tailback.

At tight end, Kyle Morlock and Jaheim Bell have earned starting spots over Markeston Douglas and Preston Daniel. Destyn Hill is listed as a co-starter with Winston Wright Jr. in the slot while Keon Coleman will start alongside Johnny Wilson on the outside.

Along the offensive line, Robert Scott retained his spot at left tackle, Casey Roddick slots in at left guard, Maurice Smith continues to hold down the center spot, D'Mitri Emmanuel and Darius Washington are co-starters at right guard while Jeremiah Byers and Bless Harris are co-starters at right tackle.

Moving to the other side of the ball, Braden Fiske has earned a starting spot among Florida State's deep interior. Fabien Lovett is listed as a co-starter with Joshua Farmer, who was impressive during camp. Kalen DeLoach and DJ Lundy are co-starters at one of the linebacker positions

Fentrell Cypress II won out for one of the starting cornerback jobs over Azareye'h Thomas, who will be his primary backup. On the other side, true freshman Quindarrius Jones is the primary backup to redshirt senior Renardo Green. Shyheim Brown has the buck safety spot locked down while Akeem Dent and Kevin Knowles are listed as co-starters at free safety. All three of the newcomers made the two deep as well; Conrad Hussey, KJ Kirkland, and Ashlynd Barker.

Following a close competition, Ryan Fitzgerald retains his starting spot as Florida State's kicker. Tyler Keltner will be his primary backup throughout the season.
