Movement in the NCAA Transfer Portal isn't slowing down with only the summer holding back the college football season from getting underway. The players remaining in the portal are searching for landing spots ahead of kickoff.

Plenty of former players on Florida State's roster have found homes throughout the last couple of weeks. Five players (Derrick McLendon, Brendan Gant, Omarion Cooper, Travis Jay, Bishop Thomas) transferred to Colorado during the spring but they aren't the only ones getting opportunities elsewhere.

On Monday evening, former Seminole quarterback Gino English announced that he was committing to Gardner-Webb to continue his college career. English is moving to the FCS for his final two years of eligibility but he's expected to be on full scholarship after being a walk-on in Tallahassee.

After only appearing in one game during his four years at Florida State, English is looking to step into an opportunity where he can earn consistent playing time. That's a possibility at Gardner-Webb as the program lost redshirt senior quarterback Bailey Fisher to graduation at the conclusion of 2022. The Bulldogs' most experienced returner is Matthew Caldwell, who attempted 55 passes and threw one touchdown to three interceptions last season.

English spent the majority of his time with the Seminoles contributing to the practice squad. He joined the program under former head coach Willie Taggart before sticking with Florida State when head coach Mike Norvell took over the program.

The Florida native earned an opportunity to play during Florida State's 49-17 victory against Louisiana in November. He completed 2/2 passes for 16 yards while compiling one rush for -5 yards. English was named a Seminole Scholarship during all four of his years with the Seminoles. He was also honored with the Co-Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year during the program's award ceremony.

English entered the transfer portal prior to Florida State's bowl game but stuck with the team through the Cheez-It Bowl victory against Oklahoma.

Florida State enters the 2023 season with four scholarship quarterbacks; redshirt senior Jordan Travis, redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker, redshirt freshman AJ Duffy, and true freshman Brock Glenn. The Seminoles also have redshirt freshman walk-on Dylan McNamara on the roster.
