Former Florida State Running Back Declares For 2024 NFL Draft

The former Seminole is moving on to the professional level after recording back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons.

College football players around the country are in decision mode at one of the busiest times of the entire year. It's a mix of grappling to transfer, stay put, or declare for the upcoming professional draft.

There have been a lot of players to come through Tallahassee over the last few years as head coach Mike Norvell has stabilized the roster at Florida State. While it didn't work out for everyone in garnet and gold, plenty of former members of the program have gone on to have success elsewhere.

Former FSU running back La'Damian Webb spent one season with the team in 2020 before ending up at South Alabama after a stint in junior college. Following back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 yards on the ground, Webb announced that he's betting on himself and declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Despite being listed as a senior, Webb still had one season of eligibility remaining due to the COVID-19 year. Regardless, after five seasons at the collegiate level, it appears that he's ready for a new challenge.

Webb rushed for 100+ yards in eight of his 23 appearances at South Alabama. He recorded a career-high 35 carries for 247 yards and four touchdowns in a victory against Georgia Southern in 2022. Webb totaled 396 rushes for 2,074 yards with 29 touchdowns on the ground while catching 45 passes for 357 yards and three more scores through the air for the Jaguars. He was named First-Team All-Sun Belt in 2022 and Third-Team All-Sun Belt in 2023.

The Alabama native was a productive running back during his lone year in Tallahassee. He appeared in seven games, with three starts, rushing 69 times for 369 yards and three scores while catching nine passes for 68 yards. Webb had an FSU career-high 109 yards on 12 carries in an upset victory against No. 5 North Carolina. He joined Jordan Travis in breaking the century mark in the win, the first time that the program had produced two 100-yard rushers in the same game since 2017.

Webb will likely be trying to prove himself in all-star games over the next couple of months to earn an invitation to the NFL Combine.

As for current Seminoles, star wide receiver Johnny Wilson declared for the draft earlier this month. He opted out of the Orange Bowl and won't suit up against Georgia.
