Former FSU Football Staff Member Hired By West Virginia Mountaineers

The former Seminole staffer is continuing to build a coaching career at the college level.

Though most of the coaching carousel is complete, there are still a few moves being made leading up to the start of spring practice.

On Tuesday, West Virginia announced that the program was hiring former Florida State graduate assistant and Akron cornerbacks coach Tre' Bell as a defensive analyst. Bell joins the Mountaineers after two years with the Zips. The position marked his first on-field coaching job at the FBS level and he made the most of it, coaching three All-MAC selections.

Bell spent one season at Florida State as a graduate assistant in 2021, serving under former defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson. During his lone season with the Seminoles, Bell coached NFL Draft pick Jammie Robinson.

Prior to his move to Tallahassee, the New Jersey native worked at Mississippi State for two years as a graduate assistant. He coached under Joe Moorhead in 2019 before sticking around for another year under Mike Leach.

Bell began his coaching career in 2018 as a quality control coach at Eastern Kentucky where he worked with the defensive backs. Outside of his college experience, Bell has also spent time at the NFL level with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He worked with the Steelers during training camp as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship,

He played collegiately at Vanderbilt and UConn. Bell totaled 82 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception, three forced fumbles, and four pass deflections between his time with the Commodores and Huskies. He earned his bachelor's degree from UConn and his master's degree from Mississippi State.
