FSU Edge Jared Verse Draws Comparison to Four-Time Pro Bowler

A former NFL scout compared Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse to a four-time Pro Bowler.

With the Florida State Seminoles climbing their way back to being a premiere college football team, they're going to continue and produce quality NFL talent along with competing at a high level throughout the season.

Atop the Seminoles' roster in terms of NFL potential talent is Jared Verse.  The defensive end has had quite the journey to reach his stardom at Florida State. He was a standout player at FCS Albany and was a highly sought transfer prospect.

This past season, Verse's first playing FBS football, he totaled 48 tackles, with 22 being solo tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and nine sacks.

After a first-team All-ACC appearance, Verse could have made the jump to the NFL, yet he opted to stay at Florida State and pursue a National Championship alongside his teammates.

Former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah, who is now an analyst at NFL.com, broke down Verse's game. He drew the comparison to Ryan Kerrigan, four-time Pro Bowl defensive end.

Here's what Jeremiah said about the comparison between the two:

He reminds me of: Ryan Kerrigan. Verse isn't quite as big, but his game closely mirrors Kerrigan's when he was playing at Purdue. It's a combination of power, effort and the ability to finish plays. I can remember watching Kerrigan make chase plays from the opposite side of the field on a consistent basis in his collegiate days. Verse plays with that same relentless motor on every snap. Kerrigan enjoyed an outstanding NFL career, earning four trips to the Pro Bowl, and I believe Verse has that same potential.

Kerrigan spent most of his 11-year career in Washington outside of his final season in Philadelphia. The former first-round pick finished his career with 95.5 sacks and 120 tackles for loss.

For Verse to draw comparisons with a player that accomplished plenty in his NFL career is a good sign, and is an indicator that we may see the Seminole standout be amongst the most dominant college football players in the 2023 season.
