Former Florida State defensive back Hamsah Nasirildeen was a sixth-round pick in 2021 by the New York Jets, the same team that cut him this past week. Now an NFL free agent, Nasirildeen suffered an injury during the Hall of Fame game.

Nasirildeen spent his first two seasons with the Jets, appearing in 19 games in a reserve role. He was recently converted to a linebacker for the team prior to being waived.

Maalik Hall was let go alongside Nasirildeen, as both young linebackers were replaced with veterans as the team shifts their focus to winning a Super Bowl this season.

As mentioned, Nasirildeen suffered an injury during the Hall of Fame game. This summarizes his inability to develop further as a prospect. He's dealt with injuries that have caused setbacks throughout his young career.

In two seasons, the 24-year-old picked up 14 total tackles. With his conversion to linebacker and young age, watching whether or not he'll receive another shot in the NFL will be interesting.

The former Seminole spent four seasons in Tallahassee. He appeared in 35 total games with Florida State and pulled down four career interceptions. On top of that, he had 233 career tackles, four tackles for loss, and one sack over the four years.

After Nasirildeen's junior season, he received second-team All-ACC honors. However, injuries held him out of his senior year, and the team struggled in the second half of that season.

Being a young NFL talent, there's a chance Nasirildeen is able to bounce back from his injury, continue his transition to linebacker and show a team that he still has defensive upside. If he can do so, he'll still have to show his value to earn real snaps come the regular season.
