FSU OL Coach Alex Atkins Inducted Into UT Martin Hall of Fame

In this story:
Florida State offensive coordinator Alex Atkins has been a significant addition to the Seminole staff after being brought on board as an offensive line coach back in 2020. He quickly accelerated to the offensive coordinator position, and throughout the two years he's been in Tallahassee, the OL room has undergone a drastic transformation of talent and skill.

In 2022, Atkins helped orchestrate one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, propelling FSU to a 10-3 record and a final ranking of No. 10 in the Coaches Poll and No. 11 in the AP poll.
The Seminoles were one of only two teams across the nation to achieve an average of at least 270 passing yards and at least 210 rushing yards per game. The team's 16 touchdown drives of 80-plus yards ranked as the third-most in the country. Additionally, FSU shared the top spot nationally with eight touchdown drives of 90-plus yards, showcasing how explosive their offense was.
It seems success has followed Atkins everywhere he goes. In 2019, Atkins took on the role of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for Charlotte after serving three years as assistant head coach and offensive line coach at Tulane. With Atkins as offensive coordinator, Charlotte achieved its first-ever bowl game appearance in program history. His coaching experience also includes Division I stints at Georgia Southern, Chattanooga, Marshall, and UT-Martin.
It was announced on Monday that Atkins will be a part of his Alma Mater UT-Martin's 2023 Hall of Fame Class. During his time as a Skyhawk, he was named an All-American and a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference offensive lineman. He was also named to the inaugural United States National team, helping Team USA win the World Cup of American Football in Tokyo, Japan.
From UT Martin Sports Info:
Atkins was an All-American and two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference offensive lineman, capping off his stellar career by helping the Skyhawks to a 9-3 record and the program's first-ever OVC championship/Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearance in 2006. That season, the Chicago, Ill. native helped block for a league-leading rushing offense that averaged 218.2 yards per game (then a school record). After graduation, he was named to the inaugural United States National Team, helping Team USA win the World Cup of American Football event held in Tokyo, Japan. He currently serves as the offensive coordinator at Florida State University.
Atkins will join FSU basketball head coach Leonard Hamilton who was a part of the UT Martin Hall of Fame inaugural class in 1983.
