As the 2023 season approaches, a familiar face will be seen on the sidelines once again. Former Florida State star and National Champion tight end Nick O'Leary has joined the coaching staff as a Student Assistant Coach (Offense) according to the recently released FSU Media Guide

This doesn't necessarily come as a surprise as O'Leary has been a consistent presence around the program this offseason. He even worked directly with the coaching staff during Florida State's Elite Camp in June. O'Leary spent time assisting tight ends coach Chris Thomsen while coaching up some of the recruits in attendance.

O'Leary was drafted in the sixth round in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills after an illustrious career as a Seminole. He left the 'Noles as one of the most prolific tight ends in FSU history and became the first Seminole to win the John Mackey Award, which is given to the nation's top tight end.

O'Leary was known as both a devastating blocker and a hard-hitting receiver with the ball in his hands. During the 2014 season, he ranked second in receptions (48), yards (618), and receiving touchdowns (six).

As he wrapped up his college career, the Mackey Award winner solidified his place as Florida State's all-time leader among tight ends in three critical categories: career receptions (114), yards (1,591), and touchdowns (18). Additionally, his 17 touchdown receptions placed him second-highest in ACC history.

In the NFL, O'Leary's career spanned five seasons with multiple stops at the Bills, Miami Dolphins, and Jacksonville Jaguars, ending with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020.

Now he'll begin his coaching career in familiar territory as he transitions from the field to the sideline in Tallahassee.
