The calendar is flying by as the No. 8 Florida State Seminoles inch closer to their season opener against the No. 5 LSU Tigers on September 3 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Friday marked the 13th practice for the 'Noles, who are eager to take center stage 19 days from now.

Head coach Mike Norvell spoke with the media after practice ahead of their second scrimmage of fall camp. The offense and defense have been starting to even out on which side takes home the win for the day.

"I thought today was a good day. I thought today was a day of momentum swings," Norvell said. "Defense was dominant there in the middle part of practice in our team sessions. We're really working a bunch of situations to force guys to have to think, apply, react. I thought they did a really good job in the middle part of practice, and then I loved the offense's response."

The tight end group shined in team drills starting with Jaheim Bell, who leaped in the air over two end-zone defenders to come down with a score. Markeston Douglas would go on to snag another score off the defense, making a last-second turn to snag a well-placed pass in the back of the endzone.

"It's a group that - it's talented. I think you see four guys for sure, maybe five guys that will be able to have an opportunity to impact us in a very positive way," Norvell said about the tight end room. "Jahiem had a big play today. Markeston (Douglas) is such a unique specimen in a sense; I mean, he's six-seven, maybe 285 pounds. He can run. He can catch. I really like what he's doing."

Alongside Bell and Douglas, Kyle Morlock has strung three or four good practices together and has taken a major leap since spring camp. He and Preston Daniel were able to come down with the ball in key situations on the day.

"Kyle Morlock has had an unbelievable fall camp. Preston Daniel is continuing to get better. I really like that group that we have, just the versatility of what they bring. It's going to be fun to watch them continue to grow together and obviously, they do so much in this offense and are putting it all on display.

Norvell goes over tracking player speed in the new practice facility, freshman wide receiver Hykeem Williams, and what he expects heading into Sunday's scrimmage in his full interview below.
